Sept. 8
Today we are excited to be heading North again out of Cowhead.
We arrived here late Sunday to attend an excellent diner theatre put on by the Gros Morne Theatre Company. We liked the place enough to stay in the hotel it has been playing in for a couple of days of R & R before moving on again. Yesterday we went for a hike into Westerbrook Pond for a local cruise up the fiord. ( Google it )
Sadly it was blowing so hard that it was cancelled. On the way back out Grace did meet a new friend.
Today marks the first day of her holidays! She is meeting it with mixed reactions. Let's see what adventures we can come up with today. As you can see the road is becoming more and more barren.
It only arrived here in 1962. Before that it was a very isolated place. Some how when talking with the people around here you can still sense that.

Isn't it kind of dangerous to be standing that close to a moose?
ReplyDeleteMom I bet you are dreaming of school. I love the first day back to school!
ReplyDeleteTold you it was worth seeing and the people are the most friendly in the world I think I advised you about a snowsuit going to the rock this late in the season safe travels to the both of you .
ReplyDeleteThat's what I thought Nicole. There were lots of other people standing around and they didn't seem too worried. Too young to be dangerous or shy????
ReplyDeleteNo room for a snowsuit Don! But yes, Henry keeps wishing he brought his longjohns.
It was weird walking down the hall past your class and seeing someone else there. But I think what you are doing far outweighs being in the class. Just wondering if you have had any warm weather at all. I keep seeing Grace in a jacket and pants. Love reading the blogs.
ReplyDeleteNo Dianna, the wind is always blowing up here, and the weather is getting ready for winter to set in. Last night we finally started the furnace in the van up. It was very cold.
