St Anne

July 30
Thursday
St. Anne
We got up early today. Had a very good nights sleep. Left out of WakeField at 7:00 AM. It’s been 1157K since we left home. We followed the Ottawa river for a while and then cut across the top end of Montreal and headed to Trois Rivieres. After that we followed along the St. Lawrence till almost Quebec City. We skirted around the top end of it also until as we were going along we spotted these incredible high steeples of this massive cathedral in a small town called Saint Anne de Beaupre. I just had to see this building so we got of the highway and a good thing too. It just happens that Saint Anne was the grandmother of Jesus. Because of that each year a lot people from all over make a pilgrimage to this cathedral to pay homage to her. Because many of them come in RV’s the Catholic church has an entire park across the road right along the St Lawrence for people like us to park in for free. You might say that Saint Anne led us right to our home for that night. It was a good place to park. We had driven for nearly 9 hours and made about 550K this day along some slow winding stop and go roads and we were tired. We toured the cathedral and spent some time riding around town on our bikes too. One of the interesting things in the cathedral was a huge display of crutches from all the people who came here, and because of their faith they were healed and didn’t need them any more. Don’t know what to think of that.
